Changing the Experience of

Alzheimer's & Dementia

Catherine Madison MD

Like most individuals I work with, my interest in dementia care was never intentional.

I came to know this as a personal experience through the loss of my mother - in pieces to a neurodegenerative disease called Alzheimer's Dementia.

Her illness affected our entire family and changed the course of my career.

In helping  patients and families navigate the changed terrain inherent with a dementia diagnosis over the last 15 years I have come to understand how we can modify our approach to life for better compensating through the many challenges that can arise and

enjoy each day to the fullest.

Diagnosis, Resources, & Care

Dementia is a horizontal illness - it affects everyone connected to the person. What we offer at MD Memory Care is extra time available for attentive listening to individual patient needs, development of unique care plans to improve everyone's quality of life, and decreased waiting time for appointments.

Diagnosis, Support & Care

Dementia is a horizontal illness that affects everyone connected to the person. Hearing the word Alzheimer's can plunge one towards unknown hardship and loss. What I offer at MD Memory Care is both a rich experience in this field with extra time for attentive listening to individual patient needs to develop a unique care plan. With an uncertain future we must look even more closely to find opportunities to improve everyone's quality of life. No one chooses a neurodegenerative illness - but we can chose how we react to this diagnosis. Rather than retreating into fear, we can work together to find pieces of comfort and joy along this unexpected journey.

Dementia or Alzheimer's?

Dementia is a neurodegenerative illness; there are many types and Alzheimer's is the most common one.

Ray Dolby Brain Health Center

My vision of a holistic approach to diagnosis and care began based on my years as a physician and personal experiences with dementia in the family. The Ray Dolby Brain Health Center was then created with the generous support and partnership of  Dagmar Dolby. Working with colleagues I cared for thousands of patients and their families with the goal of improving next chapters for each unique story. A fresh perspective can give us the energy to find a path forward.
